A health crisis, such as cancer, can be turned into a path of new beginnings. With time, the right support and mentoring, you can find the way. I have achieved this myself through lived experience and I know you can too.
I used by breast cancer diagnosis at 48 years old as the catalyst to transform my health and my life. It has been tough, yet truly quite wonderful. It turns out that life’s shocks, transitions and challenges prove to bring powerful healing possibilities. I now like to describe myself as a wellbeing catalyst, helping clients make time for their wellness, making health a priority in a world that is pushing so hard against it.
I now walk my own talk using a simple framework which involves being kind to myself, whilst nurturing my mind and body. This includes nourishing myself with the food I put on my plate, along with lifestyle interventions, such as prioritising sleep and rest, including gentle daily movement and practising stress resilience techniques to regulate my nervous system. I have fine-tuned these lifestyle changes and implemented them into simple daily routines and rituals, which brought me back to myself. These have now become healthy habits and I no longer struggle to fit them in. They are part of my life; I enjoy and value them. Yes, life has changed, but these changes have been positive. I still enjoy a drink occasionally, I still see friends, but I make mindful choices. It is liberating and energising!!!!!
If you do not make time for your health, you will be forced to make time for illness – I know this, I have the t-shirt!
Are you ready to reclaim trust in your own body?
What I practice is called lifestyle medicine, focusing on the mind – body connection. It can be utilised quite easily by all of us and it is never too late to implement.
You may want to prevent illness, or you may currently be living with a chronic disease which you would like to manage; lifestyle medicine can be used alongside conventional medicine to help alleviate the symptoms of harsh medical treatments and create a better environment for your body to heal.
Like Hippocrates said thousands of years ago ‘food is medicine’.
